Most earthquakes and volcano are along the edges of tectonic plates .
Tectonic earthquakes occur due to the Earth's tectonic plates sliding past each other which causes locking, pressure build up and sudden release creating large earthquakes at these boundaries.

most earthquakes are along the edges of tectonic plates. This is where most volcanoes are too. However, most earthquakes are caused by the interaction of the plates not the movement of magma . Most earthquakes directly beneath a volcano are caused by the movement of magma.
