Both Lencho and the Postmaster represent certain human attributes. Lencho had immense faith in God's goodness and generosity. After his crop was destroyed in a storm, he wrote a letter to God requesting Him to send him 100 pesos. His faith was rewarded.
It is also true the postmaster was an epitome of compassion and generosity. Owing to his goodness, God used him as channel to help Lencho. The postmaster was the factor responsible for all the financial help Lencho received. He was kind-hearted, amiable, and philanthropic by nature. The moment he saw Lencho’s letter he was amazed and awed at Lencho’s faith. He knew such a faith was rare to be found in the world. So, he decided to preserve Lencho’s faith by sending him 100 pesos. Though he could not collect 100 pesos, he sent him approximately 70 pesos. People like the postmaster are the beauty of this world. Only people like him keep the goodness of life alive.
