Solution :-

The question says that boxes of 12 cm tall are being stacked next to the boxes that are 18 cm tall. This is the same as finding least common multiple (LCM) of both numbers.

The 18 cm boxes could form a stack of heights 18 cm, 36 cm, 54 cm, 72 cm, 90 cm........ while the other stack could be 12 cm, 24 cm, 36 cm, 48 cm, 60 cm, 72 cm ..........

We see that both stacks could be 36 cm. 2 boxes of 18 cm tall and 3 boxes of 12 cm tall.

So, 36 cm is the shortest height at which the two stacks will be at same height.
