Boyle’s law is-:
p 1 V 1 = p 2 V 2
=Boyle's law gives the relation
between pressure (p) and volume
(V) of a fixed amount of gas.
Boyle's law states that at constant
temperature, the pressure of a
fixed amount (number of moles, n)
of a gas is inversely proportional to
its volume.
Mathematically, it is represented as
, where = Proportionality constant
From the above equation, it is
found that at constant temperature,
the product of pressure and
volume of a fixed amount of a gas
is constant. Also, if at constant
temperature,
=V 1 = Volume of a gas at pressure
p 1
=V 2 = Volume of the same gas at
pressure p 2
Then,
=p 1 V 1 = p 2 V 2 = Constant
