Let boys = a
Boys / girls = 8/3 = a/405
Cross multiply it
A= 405 × 8/3 = 1080

So what do you mean by ratio?

Ratio means comparing two quantities of same units. Ratio always means division but it is written i such a way where a and b are any numbers, a:b.  The ':' is pronounced as 'is to'.

Lets take the ratio as 8x:3x

So 3x (Girl ratio)

3x=405
x= 405/3
x= 135

So now we got the value of x

To find the number of boys in school just multiply the value of x with the ratio of number of boys.

So,

Number of boys= 8x
=8*135
= 1080

So the number of boys in school is 1080.
