IQ is definitely an acquired character, we often see that children of very intelligent men and women are not too intelligent, while sometimes intelligence sparks in the most unlikely of places.

Intelligence doesn't change the DNA or the germ cells of an organism; hence the trait cannot be passed down from parent to offspring.
