The top of a ladder 17 m long when placed against a wall reaches the height of 15m. How far is the foot of the ladder away from the wall.

WE CAN FIND THE ANSWER THROUGH PYTHAGORAS THEOREM
height of ladder = 15m
length of hypotenuse = 17m
Therefore base = distance of ladder from wall (Which we have to find)
So....
base ^2 = hypotenuse^2 - height^2
base ^2 = 17 ^2 - 15^2
base ^2 = 289 - 225
base ^2 = 64
therefore base = square root of 64 = 8
there fore distance of ladder from wall is 8m
