Tip- The respiratory system keeps dangerous things out of your lungs.

Breathing purifies our blood

Explanation: Within the air sacs, oxygen travels through paper-thin walls to small blood arteries known as capillaries, where it is absorbed into your blood. The oxygen is then carried around your body by a protein called haemoglobin, which is found in red blood cells. Simultaneously, carbon dioxide dissolved in the blood passes through the capillaries and into the air sacs, ready to be exhaled.

Fresh oxygenated blood is delivered from your lungs to the left side of your heart, which pumps blood throughout your body via the arteries.

Blood that has been depleted of oxygen returns to the right side of your heart through the veins. It is then pumped to your lungs, where you can exhale the carbon dioxide and inhale additional oxygen.
