➡️Rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune condition, which means it's caused by the immune system attacking healthy body tissue.

➡️However, it's not yet known what triggers this. Your immune system normally makes antibodies that attack bacteria and viruses, helping to fight infection.

Answer :-

Basically, "Rheumatoid Arthritis" can be defined as an auto-immune disease in which the immune system of the body attacks it's own tissues.

Extra Information :-

  • Rheumatoid arthritis is abbreviated as "RA".

  • Rheumatoid arthritis is diagnosed by the presence of "Rheumatoid factor".

  • The rheumatoid factor is a type of "Immunoglobulin M".

  • Rheumatoid arthritis is characterised by inflammation of the synovial membrane which causes swelling, pain and even loss of function.

  • The synovial produces an abnormal granulation tissue called "Pannus" which adheres to the surface of the articular cartilage and sometimes erodes the cartilage completely.
