Mitochondria termed as the powerhouse of the cell.

They are of tiny structured within a cell that consists of two membranes and a matrix.

Chemical reactions take place in the environment of membrane and also in the zone of matrix where the fluid is held.

Mitochondria are a component of eukaryotic cells.

The prime function that mitochondria to perform is related to cellular respiration.

Thus it absorbs and assimilate nutrients drawing from the cell, fragment it , and converts it into recoverable energy.

This energy is consumed by the cell proper to carry out various activities.

Each cell contains different number of mitochondria.
