If an area, such as a country, region, or city, is described as densely populated, this means that there are many people living there compared with another similar-sized area. ... To understand the density of a population, you need to think about the number of people per square mile, or some other unit of measuring area.
Whereas, moderately populated area refers to places where average number of people live per unit area. These places have comparatively lower population density than that of densely populated areas. These places are neither scarcely populated neither densely.
