briefly explain an activity to plot magnetic field lines around a bar magnet sketch the field pattern for the same.A region 'A' has magnetic field lines relatively closes than region 'B'. A which region has stronger field? Give reason
Answers
Spread some iron filings on it
keep the magnet at the centre of the sheet
Tap the sheet a lil bit till the filings start to pile up in a specific pattern
Once the pattern is formed, use pins to mark certain points on the loops so that you can trace it later
Now, remove the filings and take an outline of the magnet
Carefully trace the path you have plotted with pins, in loops
You have got your Magnetic Field Lines for a Bar Magnet
Region A has the strongest magnetic field, since the lines in that region are dense. It probably is the polar region.
Answer: 1. Take a drawing sheet and fix it on a smooth table with tape.
2. play a bar magnet in the middle of a drawing sheet and draw its boundary with the sharp pencil.
3. place a magnetic compass near one and of the magnet and pole and mark the position of the two end N and aand S pole of the compass nind use a sharp pencil.
4. Swift compass from this position and play it in such a way that as pole of it need is on the. You mark in previous step for or N pole.
5. Again mark the position of the other end N pole of the compass needle
6. Repeat the step 4 and 5 till you reach the other end s pole of the bar magnet
7. joint all the points with the shape pencil to get a smooth curve.
8. put the compass at the some other point near the N pole of the magnet and draw another magnetic field line similarly draw many field line on the the sides of the bar magnet as show in figure.
9. Observe the pattern of the magnetic field line
Result: magnetic field lines can be drawn around a bar magnet use a magnetic compass the field lines do not cross each other
: region a had stronger magnetic field this is due to the strength of field is proportional to the relative closeness of field line
