Plants have two conductive tissues ie Xylem for transport of water and Phloem fro transport of food. Concentrating on transport of water in plants, when the distance between the roots and leaves is less then water and minerals can easily transported by the process of diffusion but in cases of tall trees where water needs to reach great heights it is done by the process of Transpiration and cohesion. The leaves at the taller parts of the plant lose water and thus water from the roots come rushing towards the taller parts of the plant.
