His experiments on Drosophilla helped in dicovering the phenomenon of linkage and recombination.

His research also helped in establishing the theory of chromosomes in heritance by enlightening its role.

He also thoroughly studied and elaborated the mutation of Drosophilla.

His research and work have various insights on how variation occur in DNA as well.

Answer:

  1. Morgan’s work is based on fruit flies (Drosophila melanogaster).
  2. He formulated the chromosomal theory of linkage. He defined linkage as the co-existence of two or more genes in the same chromosome and performed dihybrid crosses in Drosophila to show that linked genes are inherited together and are located on X-chromosome.
  3. His experiments have also proved that tightly linked genes show very low recombination while loosely linked genes show higher recombination.
