Earlier, when Portia (disguised as Balthazar) gives the judgement in favor of Shylock, he exclaims with joy and compares her to the 'Great Daniel' . But soon the entire mood of the courtroom is changed as Portia herself uses the words of Shylock's bond to catch him. The situation, turned in the favor of Antonio, Gratiano is overjoyed and calls Portia ' A Second Daniel' and thus taunts Shylock by praising her in Shylock's words.
