The irony in the poem is that ozymandias got built his statue in order to immortalize himself but time plays a havoc it destroyed and ruined his statue and made a desert there

The statue that was to perpetuate ozymandias memory,his glory and granduer lies broken into two pieces on the sand in the desert. Nothing remained except the boundless and fare sand.
