the qualities of the poet revealed through this lines are dedication love and faith in the immortality of his poetry it also reverse the confidence of the poor that he has the power to keep his mind Memory Alloy forever

The irony is that though the Mars who is very powerful (good of wars) and could destroy everything and the fire caused due to war is also very powerful which could destroy the world but it couldn't destroy the living record of memory (poem) which is very small and easy to destroy.
