Important Minerals and area of occurrence: Mineral Resources Area (i) Lignite (Brown coal) Neyveli (ii) Coal Ramanathapuram (iii) Oil and natural gas Cauvery Basin Metallic - Minerals: Salem - Kanjamalai, Tiruvannamalai - Kalaryan hills (i) Iron Servarayan hills, kollimalai and Palani hills. (ii) Bauxite Kotagiri and Udagamandalam. Non Metallic Minerals: (i) Magnesite Coimbatore, harmapuri, Karur, Triunelvelo, Salem, Vellore, Trichy and Nilgiris.
