The British forces destroyed crops, slaughtered the Boers' livestock, burnt their farms and homesteads, salted their fields so that they could not grow crops and even poisoned their wells.
As a result of their "scorched earth" policy, thousands of children and women had to walk forcibly into the concentration camps.
It was perhaps the first time in the history that a complete nation of targeted systematically.
