bryophytes are amphibians because ?
Answers
THOUGH THE BRYOPHYTES LIVE ON LAND THEY REQUIRE WATER MEDIA FOR REPRODUCTION. THUS BRYOPHYTES ARE AMPHIBIANS OF PLANT KINGDOM.
They are actually what we calls “amphibians”or simply a characteristic change in features of an organism as it moves to land from the water. It involves hard shell cover, lungs etc so as to help the water emerging organism to adpt them to land conditions. They could be termed out as connecting link b/w precursors, algae to whom they are followed up pteridophyte the complete land plants.
The actual answer starts from here, they are basically land animals, mainly found in cool moist conditions however they require water to reproduce,as the male gamete follows the chemical substance released by the female bryophyte in water so as, the male gamete could reach the female partner for fertilisation and to produce the diploid egg that further goes to meiosis to form haploid sporophyte. Thus, it life cycle is simply depended on both the two biosphere pieces i.e.water and land.
