INTRODUCTION:

The bryophytes are a small group of primitive land plants that grow predominantly in amphibious habitat.

Example-Funaria

The Rhizoids arise from the main axis of the plant and are branched ,slender and multicellular.(which fix the plant ,absorb water and minerals)

Bryophytes are helpful in soil conservation because;

1.It plays a important role in soil formation by biological weathering.

2.After death ,decay its body contributes to humus that makes the soil favorable for the growth of higher plants.

3.These mosses plants check soil erosion

4.And the rhizoidal branches are firmly intertwined.
