Bsc 2 nd year 4th sem chemistry...Why p- nitroaniline is much weaker base than aniline.

p nitro aniline has a deactivating and electron withdrawing group NO2 attached at the para position hence it does not allow the molecule to act as good base and it gets some acidic character as well but in aniline there is no such group and thus it is nucleophilic in nature and acts as a base.
