Every day, all around the world people are stereotyped and discriminated against
because of their race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality as well as many other differences.
Although discrimination may not be as prominent as it used to be in the past, is still is
present in our lives. There are many communities that exist that are the forefront of
discrimination. One of the communities I’m very interested in building bridges with are
transgendered people. The most I’ve ever come into contact with the subject of
transgendered people has been in my high school science or psychology courses. I’ve
been recently exposed to the topic because of the outbreak on social media from Bruce
Jenner’s coming out as a transgender, which peaked my interest on learning more about
trans genders as well.
Transgendered people is a subject that most people know exists however, nobody
really knows how many people are affected by it or the personal and emotional pressures
that they have to endure because they aren’t accepted in our society.
