Mass of bullet (mb) = 100 g = 100/1000 kg = 0.1 kg

Mass of rifle/gun (mg) = 20 kg

Velocity of bullet (vb) = 50 m/s

Formula of recoil velocity ⇒

vg = -(mb vb/mg)

vg = -(0.1 * 50/20)

vg = -(0.1 * 5/2)

vg = -(0.5/2)

vg = -0.25 m/s

Hence, the recoil velocity of the gun is -0.25 m/s.

In the options. you must mention the negative sign or else in the velocity of bullet you must mention the negative sign as one of them are always negative.
