No because when magnesium react with air area of magnesium oxide is formed and does it gives oxygen but reduction is the process of loss of oxygen not gaining of hydrogen and oxygen is the process for loss of hydrogen and oxygen so when magnesium is burnt in near IT reacts with oxygen to form a layer of magnesium oxide and does oxygen is against it is not the example of redox reaction but it is example of oxidation reaction....

Mg 2+ O2 = 2Mgo
