bursa of fabricious is sac-like lymphatic organ present only in birds and situated dorsal to the cloaca. It was first described by heironimus fabricious,proffessor of anatomy and surgery at Padua university in 1565- 1610.

The busra of fabricius is a structure peculiar to aves. it is a blind sac connected by a small duct to the dorsal part of the cloaca.often nicknamed "the cloaca thymus" the function of the busra is believed to be similar to that of the thymus.
