Answer:

LAW OF CONSERVATION OF MASS:

law of conservation of mass states that the total weight of reactants is equal to the total weight of products formed .

Na2CO3 + CH3COOH = H2O+ CO2+CH3COONa

(5.39) ( 6g) (0.9g) (2.2) (x)

according to law of conservation of mass ,

5.39 + 6.0 = 0.9 + 2.2 + x

11.39 = 3.1 + x

=> x = 11.39 - 3.1 = 8.29g

∴ expected weight of sodium ethanoate = 8.29g

Sodium carbonate + acetic acid → Sodium acetate + carbon dioxide + water

Solution :

Sodium carbonate + acetic acid → Sodium acetate + carbon dioxide + water

5.3g 6g 8.2g 2.2g 0.9g

As per the law of conservation of mass, the total mass of reactants must be equal to the total mass of products

As per the above reaction, LHS = RHS i.e., 5.3g + 6g = 2.2g + 0.9 g + 8.2 g = 11.3 g
