Here the reason behind its stability is that the double bond on 2nd carbon is stablized by the hyperconjugative effect of alpha hydrogen present on adjacent carbon to the double bonded sp2 carbon. This hyperconjugation effect is less in case of but-1-ene due leser number of hydrogen atoms present on the alpha carbon.
