Buttermilk spoils if kept in a copper or brass container. it is because copper and brass containers react with the lactic acid and spoils it which is bad for health.

Because buttermilk contains lactic acid and as we know acids react with metals to form harmful substance thereby spoiling the food hence buttermilk or any food containing acid is not kept in brass or copper vessels
