After the Monarchy leadership came to an end when Napoleon Bonaparte backed by the army overpowered the national assembly in 1799 and he declared the end of the French Revolution. In 1804 he declared himself the emperor of France after a number of military victories around Europe.  

He invested heavily on the infrastructure, education, reforming the civil code, establishing the first national bank and more. He changed the socio-economic condition and brought in a number of reforms which changed France into a modern-day country.
