Answer:

Original Price of Book  = Rs 30

Step-by-step explanation:

by increasing the list of a book by rupees 10 a person can buy 10 books less for rupee1200 find the original price of the book

Let say Original Price of Book = B Rs

Total Amount = Rs 1200

Number of Books Can be Bought = 1200/B

Price increased by Rs 10

New Price of Book = B + 10  Rs

Number Of Books can be bought = 1200/(B+10)

1200/(B+10) = 1200/B  - 10

multiplying by B(B+10) both sides

=> 1200B = 1200(B + 10) - 10B(B+10)

=> 120B  = 120(B + 10)  - B(B + 10)

=> 120B = 120B + 1200 - B² - 10B

=> B² + 10B - 1200 = 0

=> B² + 40B -30B -1200 = 0

=> B(B+40) -30(B + 40) = 0

=> (B -30)(B - 40) = 0

=> B = 30

Original Price of Book  = Rs 30
