Parents feel proud and happy about their children and give them too much attention. Although they do not mean to cause any harm this sort of behaviour can create a serious problem. The children who are starved for attention as well as those who get excessive attention can become demanding and insecure children.

Both the extremes are not good. The neglected child may not feel secure because he has never been loved and the attention addicted child may feel insecure because he will be scared that the attention will stop.
