By selling 45 fruits for rs.40 a man loses 20% .how many should he sell for rs.24 to gain 20% in the transaction

by selling 45 fruits @ 40rs .. a man losses 20%

total sales amount = 45 * 40 = 1800

let normal price/sales amount be x

then

x - 20%(x) = 1800

0.8x = 1800

x = 1800/0.8

x= 2250 is the normal sales amount...( at par )

then 2250/45 = 50 is the normal price of the each fruit..

required to get 20% gain in the transaction ...it amounts to.

1800 + 20% = 1800 + 360 = 2160

new selling price of each fruit = 24


no.of fruits to be sold to earn 20% gain where price of each fruit is 24

= amount @ 20% gain/ price of each fruit

= 2160 / 24

=90...

no,of fruits to be sold are 90...
