Hi ,

Let cost price of the pen = $x

Loss = l = x/16

Selling price ( s.p ) = $15

Loss = c.p - s.p

x/16 = x - 15

15 = x - x/16

15 = ( 16x - x ) /16

15 = 15x/16

15 × ( 16/15 ) = x

16 = x

Therefore ,

Cost price of the pen = x = $16

I hope this helps you.
