SP = Rs. 110
Loss = 12%

CP = SP × 100/(100-L%)

110 × 100/88 = Rs. 125

CP = Rs. 125
Gain = 8%

SP = CP × (100+P%)/100

125 × 108/100 = Rs. 135

Given :

by selling an article for Rs.110 loses 12%

To Find:

for how much should he sell it to gain 8%

Solution:

Selling price = 110

Loss% = 12%

CP= \frac{Sp \times 100}{100-L\%}

CP=\frac{110 \times 100}{100-12}

CP=125

Gain% = 8%

SP = CP+Gain

SP=125+\frac{8}{100} \times 125=135

Hence He should shell it at Rs.135 to gain 8%
