By the reference of poem the ancient mariner how can we say that the mariner was innocent and we cant blame mariner for the death of albateoss .

actually he don't know the bird is harmless he thought that it will do something to him and his fellow beings so only he killed the bird that too accidentally after that he realized his mistake and felt very bad. so he is innocent only he didn't plan to kill the bird

in the poem 'the ancient mariner's we come to know that the ancient mariner who had with long grey beard and glittery eyes tells a wedding guest how he had shot an albatross during one of his journeys.
samual Taylor coleridge ,the poet wishes to convey that how unintentionally one can do a sin and at the same time have no fault in it.the ancient mariner was asked by his other fellows to kill the albatross as they felt that it was the one who had brought the troubles to them and the ancient mariner being a meek and docile person readily accepted what he was asked to do..
hence we can say that the ancient mariner had no fault in killing the albatross as even though it was him who did the sin but it was not his own demand but that of.others
moreover we can see that after the albatross's death the mariner repents killing it badly
