By what percent is Rs. 2,000 less than Rs. 2,400? Is it the same percent by which Rs. 2,400 is more than Rs. 2,000? 

No it is not! 

To calculate a percentage, divide the amount that is not 100% by the amount that is 100% and multiply by 100 

Let Rs 2400 = 100% 

2000 / 2400 * 100 = 83.33% 

Now let Rs 2,000 = 100% 

2400 / 2000 * 100 = 120% 

It is a bigger percentage because 2000 is a smaller amount than 2400, so 400 is 1/5th of 2000 but only 1/6th of 2,400
