Given that By what rational number should -8/39 be multiplied to obtain 1/26.

Let the number be x.

- \frac{8}{39} x = \frac{1}{26}

-8x = \frac{39}{26}

-8x = \frac{3}{2}

-16x = 3

x = - \frac{3}{16}

Therefore the rational number is -3/16.

Verification:

- \frac{8}{39} * -( \frac{3}{16}) =  \frac{1}{26}

 \frac{8 * 3}{39 * 16} =  \frac{1}{26}

 \frac{24}{624} =  \frac{1}{26}

 \frac{1}{26} =  \frac{1}{26}

Hope this helps!
