Upward mobility can take place through the process of Sanskritization which is a form/ process of imitation.
Sanskritization refers to imitation and adoption of processes (followed by upper castes) by tribal and lower castes.
The lower castes imitate the culture, the practices and lifestyle of the dominant upper castes to achieve a high social status, to gather inclusiveness into the Hindu society and to come at par with them.
