The technology that is used to re-create the extinct animals and plants in laboratory conditions is called as “Cloning”.

Cloning is a process where an organism is created via non-sexual (asexual) reproduction. The offspring that is identical to its parents is produced by this technology.

Cloning is used for naturally reproducing many plants. However, the animals cannot reproduce naturally by cloning. They are cloned under laboratory conditions by using genetic engineering techniques.

Artificial insemination is also another technique which can be used in the de-extinction of endangered species of animals. The sperm from such animals can be frozen for future use. The sperm is impregnated into the female reproductive tract of the animal during breeding programs to increase the number of animals.
