External dimensions are:

Length =20 cm, breadth =12 cm and height =10 cm

Internal dimensions are :

Length =(20−2) cm =18 cm

Breadth =(12−2) cm =10 cm

Height =(10−2) cm =8 cm

∴ volume of wood = External volume − Internal volume

=(20×12×10)cm³ −(18×10×8)cm³

=2400cm³ −1440cm³

=960cm³
