No, I do not like the education system described in the story "The Fun they Had".

The system is based on a mechanical teacher and fails to interest students. In fact, Margie uses words like 'hate', 'ugly' and 'disappointed' for the education system and the mechanical teacher. It clearly shows that she too did not like the education system.

The disadvantages of the education system include being taught by a mechanical teacher, monotony, no real-life interaction with the teacher or with peers, and technical snags that interfere with effective learning.

Since the children were taught by a robot, the lessons were quite boring. It only 'flashed' the lessons on its scr(e)en without asking the child if she understood it or not. Also, there was no variation in the way of teaching. All lessons were taught in the same way and all tests had to be done in a c(o)de so that the mechanical teacher could grade them.

Additionally, the students did not get the opportunity to interact with the teacher or with classmates. In fact, there were no classmates. So, the social part of school was completely missing. Further, the technical teacher was prone to developing programming issues that upset studies. Once it took a month to repair Tommy's teacher!

The few advantages of the education system are convenience and individual attention. School had become very convenient since the mechanical teacher would come home. There was no need to step out of the house each day to attend school. Also, the mechanical teacher was meant to teach according to each child's level, because 'each child has to be taught differently'.
