Electric short circuit:-

• Short circuits can occur in the power cords, plugs or inside the appliance.

• The connection of many electric wires to a single socket is called short circuit.

• The function of fuse in these situations is to cut off the rising load.

• In this situation, the fuse wire which is low in electrical resistance, melts due to rising current and breaks the circuit.

• The presence of moisture can rapidly increase the current in the circuit, which in most modern appliances will cause a short circuit as the fuse is blown.

• A short circuit fault current can, within milliseconds, be thousands of times larger than the normal operating current of the system.

• A short circuit is when there is a low resistance connection between two conductors that are supplying electrical power to a circuit.

Prevention:-

• Employing fuses
• Circuit breakers
• Reduce electric usage during storm
• Monitor outlets and appliances.
• Get a early electrical inspection
• Install devices which prevents short circuit.
• Similarly, check the appliances and their wiring too. Faulty appliance wiring or cracks in the appliance can cause a short circuit. Repair such appliances or replace them altogether.
