Electric short circuit:-
- Short circuits can occur in the power cords, plugs or inside the appliance.
- The connection of many electric wires to a single socket is called short circuit.
- The function of fuse in these situations is to cut off the rising load.
- In this situation, the fuse wire which is low in electrical resistance, melts due to rising current and breaks the circuit.
- The presence of moisture can rapidly increase the current in the circuit, which in most modern appliances will cause a short circuit as the fuse is blown.
- A short circuit fault current can, within milliseconds, be thousands of times larger than the normal operating current of the system.
- A short circuit is when there is a low resistance connection between two conductors that are supplying electrical power to a circuit.
Prevention:-
- Employing fuses
- Circuit breakers
- Reduce electric usage during storm
- Monitor outlets and appliances.
- Get a early electrical inspection
- Install devices which prevents short circuit.
- Similarly, check the appliances and their wiring too. Faulty appliance wiring or cracks in the appliance can cause a short circuit. Repair such appliances or replace them altogether.
