equal to 0.3 m/s. After collisions, the two balls come to rest
when the velocity of the ball B is:
a) 0.15 m/s
b) -1.5 m/s

Answer:

v= - 0.15 m/s

Explanation:

Given that

Mass of A ,m= 200 g

Mass of B ,M= 400 g

Velocity of A ,u = 0.3 m/s

Lets take velocity of B = v m/s

Given that final velocity of both the ball is zero.So the final linear momentum will be zero.

Initial momentum Pi = m u+ M v

There is no any external force so the linear momentum will be conserved

Pi=Pf

m u+ M v = 0

200 x 0.3 + 400 x v= 0

v= - 0.3/2 = -0.15 m/s

v= - 0.15 m/s ( opposite to the direction of ball B)
