When nitrobenzene reacts with the hydrogen, palladium and ethanol N-ethyl aniline will form.

  • Initially nitrobenzene converted into aniline in presence of hydrogen and palladium.
  • Then in the presence of ethanol aniline reacts with ethanol and N-ethyl aniline is formed.
  • This reaction is Aldol condensation reaction.
  • Refer to the attached image for the reaction.
