Geospatial technology helps to solve complex real-world problems. With the increasing spatial resolution, the application of this technology is growing wider. Cadastral maps are age-old maps with village boundary and individual survey numbers prepared by using chain survey. These cadastral maps are still used as base maps for land ownership in India. To meet the changes that are taking place in the village there is an urgent need for continuous updating of these cadastral maps. The present study is aimed to convert hard copies of cadastral maps into digitized vector maps using geospatial technology. Land ownership and other details about the individual survey numbers are given as attributes. Once it is in a digital GIS map layers, changes to the map can be made easily and as per the requirement. High-resolution satellite data helps in depicting the boundaries of individual parcels easily. LISS-IV (5.8m) satellite sensor data is merged with PAN (1m) to get higher resolution color image. A vector cadastral parcel for two clusters of Warangal district is prepared using DGPS survey and merged satellite data. Even though the mode of area measurement by ground and automated method is inconsistent there was a significant matching of digitized cadastral map to the land records area. The study indicates this technology can be adopted further to other villages, districts and data can be updated regularly.
