here use of log table

step1 :- first find characteristics of log

log (15.6 )
before decimal total number of digits = 2
after decimal total number of digit = 1

characteristics = number of digit before decimal - number of digit after decimal = 2 - 1 = 1

step2 :- now find mantissa
this is found by using log table .
see table:- 1
row no - 15 and column no - 6
you see number = 1931
this is put after decimal .1931

now, add 1 and 0.1931

log(15.6) = 1.1931
