Answer:

pH of the Solution = 2.72 units

Explanation:

We Have :-

0.001 M H₂SO₄ Solution

To Find :-

pH of the solution

Formula Used :-

pH = -log ( H )

Solution :-

Kₐ of HSO₄⁻ = 1.2 * 10⁻²

H₂SO₄ + H₂O ⇒ HSO₄⁻ + H⁺  ( This is the first dissociation )

HSO₄⁻ + H₂O ⇒ SO₄⁻ + H⁺ ( This is second dissociation )

1.2*10^{-2}=\frac{[H^{+}][SO_{4}^{-} ]  }{[HSO_{4} ^{-}] }  \\\\1.2*10^{-2}=\frac{(0.001+x)(x)}{0.001}  \\\\x = 8.655*10^{-4} \\\\

[H^{+} ]=0.001865\\\\pH=-log(H)\\\\= 2.72 units

pH of Solution = 2.72 units
