( i ) Area = 46 cm^{2}

( ii ) Area = 46 cm^{2}.

Given

To find the area enclosed for the given shapes.

( i ) Finding area for the first diagram :

     Assigning name for the figure as shown in the attachment.

     First extend BC to A

     Where,    AC = 3 + 2 = 5 cm

                     FA = 5 + 4 = 9 cm

                     FE = 7 cm

     Area of trapezium = 1/2 × (base + base) × height

                                    = 1/2 × (FE + AC) × FA

                                    = 1/2 × (7 + 5) × 9

                                    = 6 × 9 = 54 cm^2

     Area of trapezium, ACEF = 54 cm^2.

     Area of rectangle = width × length

     Area of rectangle, GDBA = 2 × 4

                                                = 8 cm^2

     Hence, Area = Area of trapezium ACEF - Area of rectangle

                           = 54 - 8

                   Area = 46 cm^2.

( ii ) Finding area for the second diagram :

      Assigning name for the figure as shown in the attachment.

      Area of square = side × side

      Area of ADFI = side × side

                             = 9 × 9

                             = 81 cm^{2}

      Area of ΔHOG = 1/2 × HG × OH

                               = 1/2 × 5 × 7

                               = 35/2

                               = 17.5 cm^{2}

      Area of  ΔBCE = 1/2 × 5 × 4 = 17.5 cm^{2}

      Hence,     Area = 81 - 17.5 - 17.5

                                = 81 - 35

                         Area = 46 cm^{2}
