Calculate the area of the shaded region in the given figure, which is common between
the two quadrants of circles of radius 8 cm each. Please answer this question with detailed explanation. I am not at all able to understand the question neither its solution.

The shaded area = (2× area of a quadrant) - area of the square.

 = (2 \times  \dfrac{\pi {r}^{2} }{4} ) -  {s}^{2}

 = (2 \times  \dfrac{22}{7}  \times  \dfrac{1}{4}  \times 8 \times 8) -  {8}^{2}

 =  \dfrac{704}{7}  -  \: 64

 = \dfrac{704 - 448}{7}

 =  \dfrac{256}{7}  {cm}^{2}
